Privacy Policy

This policy explains the limited data handled by Carmel Residents Directory and the choices available to visitors. The service is a New York public-record and historical-source reference. It does not require an account or keep a public profile about a visitor.

Information You Submit

A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the provider that supplies the results. Carmel Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those search terms on its own servers. If you contact us, we use the contents of your message only to respond or handle the request.

Routine Technical Data

Hosting services create ordinary logs, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of visit. We review this in aggregate for security, reliability, and page use. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may use cookies or related technologies.

How Information Is Used

Information supports operation, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and maintenance. We do not sell lists of visitors or create individual visitor profiles.

External Services

Links may lead to Putnam County or New York portals, libraries, archives, and third-party search providers. The policy of the destination controls information submitted there. Sponsored results are also supplied by a separate provider.

Who Might See Your Data

The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.

How We Protect Your Data

The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.

Users Under 18

The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your Requests and Choices

You may ask about personal data held in a contact mailbox or log, subject to applicable law. New York has not enacted one comprehensive online-tracking law in the Attorney General guidance reviewed for this project; the SHIELD Act is a data-security and breach-notice statute, not a public-record deletion right. Because this service retains very little, a request usually involves the contact mailbox and available logs. Use the Contact page. Records held by New York, Putnam County, or Town of Carmel custodians must be addressed to that custodian.

Changes to This Policy

Any revision appears here. Continued use after posting a revised policy constitutes acceptance of that revision.
